Hello from Archie’s Acres!
We hope you’re doing well! We’ve been busy busy lately. We had a wonderful time meeting new CSA members at the Galena Territory Association’s GTA Fair on Feb 22nd. We had a goal of signing up 10 new members for 2020 and we’re almost there! We’ve also been busy starting seeds for the 2020 growing season. We’re mapping out a new chicken run. We’ve been putting the finishing touches on our high tunnel. And we’re tapping maple and walnut trees around the property for this year’s maple/walnut syrup.
As you may know, we stopped doing farmer’s markets last year and have gone to a CSA-only model. We miss doing farmer’s markets, they were so much fun and we loved meeting and chatting with customers. But we have a 7month old son now, so farmer’s markets don’t work with our family’s schedule anymore.
Our CSA delivery options remain the same as last year – Once or twice monthly starting in May and ending on October 24th. We are so close to finishing our high-tunnel (season extender) this week, and we’ll be planting in there (hopefully) next week! So our offerings in May will be so much better than Mays before. We’re so excited about that!
Our monthly delivery options are:
Twice Monthly Delivery/12 weeks: $340
Once Monthly Delivery/6 weeks: $170
We are still delivering to the western suburbs of Chicago (Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Downers Grove, Clarendon Hills, Westmont etc), the Park Ridge area, the Galena area, and Rockford. The one time delivery fee for the entire season for the Western suburbs of Chicago and Park Ridge is $50 and $25 for deliveries to the Galena area and Rockford. Free delivery to Freeport area.
- If you agree to serve as a pickup point (we drop off your share and a friend’s share at the same location), your delivery fee will be waived. And the delivery fee of the member(s) picking up from you will also be waived.
- If you refer a new member who joins our CSA you’ll receive $25 off your share cost. $25 per referral.
Like last year, each drop-off will include approximately $30 worth of produce/canned goods/honey, chicken eggs etc based on what’s available on the farm. All, organically grown or free range. This year, we’ll also be providing the option to “add on” to your share. We will send an email the week prior to delivery with the options and cost – they’ll range from fresh cut flowers that we will grow here on our farm, extra produce, extra eggs, canned goods (which were great sellers at farmers markets last year), to beeswax lip balm, lotion bars etc (and everything in between). Check out our Etsy shop for examples, the prices offered to CSA members will be lower than listed in the shop.
